microphone. let's work on that and then get back to her. let's go to jennifer delgado. she's in the cnn weather center in atlanta. what can you tell us? >> i can tell you a lot. we're still looking at snow coming down now for areas like amarillo, they were pounded yesterday with 19 inches of snowfall. but looking at the radar right now, right along interstate 7, you can see snow coming down. rain moving through st. louis. what we're going to see is more of that snow working in as we go throughout the afternoon. some of these locations are potentially going to pick up between 6 and 12 inches of snowfall. when you add that in with winds up to about 20, 25, of course we're going to be talking about very limited visibility. in fact, i want to point out to one bright side from yesterday. we had a lot more areas with the blizzard warnings. now notice we're just really looking at the northern part of oklahoma and that is going to be in place until 6:00 a.m. central standard time. but for kansas city as well as for areas up towards chicago and into detroit we have winter storm warnings and watc

way northeast. check out these amazing images shot by a cnn ireporter just outside amarillo on monday. parts of the texas panhandle saw 19 inches of snow monday, forcing out the tow trucks in white out conditions. and from the ground to the air no snow but plenty of wind was on hand to whip around planes at the san antonio international airport. gusts hit more than 54 miles per hour at the airport, fortunately no injuries were reported. back in kansas city people just want a break from all the snowfall. >> it's been a long seven days, ten days something like that. i'm ready to go home. >> reporter: so, wolf, the worst of it has hit us here in kansas city, missouri and the system don't track to the north-northeast up towards chicago, michigan and canada and we also know that the storm is weakening according to our meteorologists. >> doesn't look like much traffic behind you, george. are people pretty much still hunkered down in kansas city? >> reporter: you don't find too many people on the roads. a lot of people are heeding that warning to stay inside. i can tell you the roads, the hi

, soft person. >> cnn's robyn curnow is covering the story from pretoria. i spoke with her just a short time ago. so, robyn, it's important to remember all of these new details are surfacing in a bail hearing. this is not a murder trial as yet. can you explain how the court system works had there, and what is in store for pistorius? >> reporter: well, this has been a bit of a trial within a trial, hasn't it? it's just a bail hearing, but we've been hearing all sorts of evidence from both sides. in fact, the state kind of laying their cards on the table. now that isn't surprising. that often happens here in south africa particularly with such a high profile and, of course, important case, premeditated murder, you know, is a very key and upon charge. so a lot of -- a lot to pull out and try to 0 defend that. in terms of the actual process, there might be a trial by the end of the year at the soonest, the south african court systems, there's backlogs, it's very slow. so they're going to try to hurry it up because it's obviously a high-profile case. you know, the wheels of justice turn very

, meg whitman, richard hanna. joining us with their take, cnn legal analyst jeffrey toobin and john avlon. with the amicus brief, it's essentially what it sounds like, a friend of the court, paper saying what your opinion is hoping to sway the justices. how important are amicus briefs, how important might this one actually be? >> they can be important, but i have to tell you, i really disagree with the premise that this is a lot of people. there are almost 300 members of the house and senate who are republicans. they got two people, two obscure members of the house to sign. they have a very distantly failed presidential candidate. a failed gubernatorial candidate. the republican party is united and i don't think the brief makes a bit of difference. >> john, is it baby steps? >> this is a significant step and i don't think it should be diminished. 75 is 75 more than there was a little while ago. it's the beginning of the republican party reconciling its present with the history. and these folks deserve a lot of credit for having the courage on to come forward and say we need to be th
